Robin class blog- Spring 2 Week 4

Hello Robins!

Well done on another super week of learning 🙂 This week in Maths we have been learning all about length, height and weight. We began the week by using non standard units of measure, such as cubes and tens sticks to measure the length and height of different items in the classroom. Then we used words such as, longer, shorter, taller and smaller to compare the lengths and heights. Today we moved onto learning all about weight and we focused on using words such as, heavier and lighter to compare the weight of objects.

In English this week we continued reading our story ‘Anna Hibiscus on holiday’. We thought about how her family felt when they arrived and the holiday house was dusty and full of cobwebs. Then as we continued to read we found out that the rest of Anna’s family arrived and everyone ended up having the happiest of holidays! We thought about what we enjoyed about the story, if the story reminded us of anything and if anything puzzled us about the story.

In our Design and Technology this week we became bakers! We followed a recipe and we made our very own bread rolls. You all kneaded the dough, added your chosen filling and formed your dough into a lovely shape. I hope you all enjoyed making them and tucking into them at home!

In Art this week we pretended to be Henry Moore as we sketched in the style of him. Next week we will be using plasticine to create our own sculptures in the style of Henry Moore. In Geography this week we used directional language to help us create a map of our school grounds and added the names of the new school buildings.

I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing weekend Robins and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Love Miss Spencer x
