Hello super Robins 🙂
We have had another great week of learning in Year 1 this week! In our Maths lessons we have been learning all about subtraction. We began the week using different resources, such as, cubes, number lines and tens frames to solve some subtraction problems. Then we learnt that sometimes when you subtract you cross over a ten and we used egg boxes and tens frames to support our learning with this. Next week we are going to be learning about fact families and using our more than, less than and equal to symbols.
In English this week you have all worked your socks off and produced some beautiful pieces of work. On Monday we found out all about the author Oliver Jeffers. I wonder if you can remember any facts about him? Then for the rest of the week we looked closely at the story ‘Lost and Found’. We wrote about our favourite part, we answered some questions about the story and we even got into role as the penguin!
In Geography this week we learnt the names of the continents and we made some creative continent maps. We used different craft materials to draw the animals, food, rivers and mountains you might find on that continent. You all really enjoyed this activity! I wonder if you can remember any names of the continents? In Art this week we looked closely at the design of the Willow pattern plate and created our own designs ready to paint next week.
Well done on a super week Robins, you have all worked very hard! I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I will see you all on Monday.
Love Miss Spencer x
