Hello Robins,

I just want to begin by saying a huge well done on completing your first week back. You all got stuck into your new learning this week, you showed our school values and worked your socks off! Well done Robins!

This week we began our new topic for this half term which is all about China! We talked about what we already knew about China and what we would like to find out, for example, what food is there in China and what money do they use. We will be finding out all the answers to these questions and more during our topic.

In English this week we looked at a lovely poetry book called ‘Here’s a little poem’ and we all loved reading the different poems, choosing our favourites and giving reasons why. In Maths this week we began learning all about place value and using dienes to represent different numbers. We also looked at finding one more and one less. I have set some homework on Sumdog linked to this learning; if you get a couple of minutes you could have a go.

In Science this week we explored the different seasons and organised different pictures into each season, for example blossom trees, orange leaves, snowmen and an ice cream van. I wonder if you could tell someone at home which season you might see these things in?

We also found out that our new author this term is Emily Gravett and we all loved reading one of her books called ‘Orange, Pear, Apple, Bear’- it really made us laugh!

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Love Miss Spencer x
