Robin class- Autumn 1 Week 8

Hello Robins,

I hope you’re all well and you are enjoying your half term break so far; I am looking forward to hearing what you have been up to. I want to say a massive well done on completing your first half term in Year 1, you all worked your socks off and I am so proud of you all!

We had a busy final week of half term. It was lovely to meet so many of your grown ups at parents evening and I could share all of your wonderful work with them.

In English we continued looking at our story ‘How To Grow A Dinosaur’ and we planted our own magic beans and wrote our own instructions for how to grow a dinosaur- I was so impressed with your writing! In Maths we looked at a number line and we used it to work out some problems relating to more than and less than. I have set some homework on SumDog all about counting more and less to 10 so if you get a spare half an hour you could take a little look and have a go.

In Science we had a lovely lesson learning all about the signs of Autumn. We added some Autumn labels to a picture, such as conkers, orange leaves and cool breeze. We also completed our experiment where we had to help Baby Bear find a new material for his space helmet. We had to make sure the material we chose was waterproof. I wonder if you can tell a grown up at home which material you chose? In Music we continued to practise our song ‘Hey you’ and we became musicians as we composed our own tunes to go with the song. They sounded brilliant!

Next half term our author of the half term will be Oliver Jeffers. If you have any books by Oliver Jeffers then as always you are more than welcome to bring them in and share them with the class.

Enjoy the rest of your half term Robins and I look forward to seeing you on 5th November.

Love Miss Spencer x
