Hi there Bumblebees!
After what has been a very emotional final week with our wonderful Bumblebees children, myself and Mrs Nguyen would like to thank all parents for your support throughout the year. You have not only supported us as practitioners, but also supported your children in their journey to read, write, comprehend and SHARE their love of learning. What a great team we have made!
Thank you too for our gifts, we have been truly spoiled and feel very blessed.
I should also like to thank Mrs Green, our volunteer parent, who has joined us this year every Thursday to work with children in all areas of the curriculum, particularly art projects, but also has done extra reads with the children and helped with their understanding of maths concepts and written work. We are very grateful and the children will miss her.
I have popped some photo’s on this blog that encompass the past couple of weeks. (Tech problems with my internet meant I couldn’t post last week). These include our time together watching the fly past celebrating 100 years of the Royal Air Force from the previous week. Bumblebees watched it live, enjoying every moment. It was a fantastic opportunity to talk about our British Values and the children loved the noises from the engines and 100 years formations made by planes and RAF soldiers alike.
Symmetry has been a prominent concept in maths and we have continued addition on a number line. The children have continued to practise their doubling and halving too. SUMDOG ACTIVITIES will be up and running today – I have set a few challenges to look at over the Summer in preparation for Year 1.
In literacy we have being writing independently about mini-beasts, reading and writing words that require digraph retrieval and writing a ‘bucket list’ of activities we wish to pursue over the Summer.
Art has seen the return of the Hungry Caterpillar at the children’s request, with some super results.
We all enjoyed our Reception Garden Party and celebrating our children graduating from Reception. A bittersweet moment as we all said goodbye to Mrs Tilbury too; Bumblebees made a special card for her which we presented Friday afternoon.
In typical Bumblebees fashion we had a ‘finale’ for our Show and Tell sessions…thank you to Ophelia and her friends for kick starting a ballet session, in which she performed a few moves from her ballet class. This ended up in us all dancing to a scene from Swan Lake…I couldn’t quite bring myself to play Flight of the Bumblebees…
Have a great Summer break and I will see you around in September.
Love from Mrs M xxxx
