Robins class- Summer 2 Week 6

By Hannah Spencer on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Year 1. No Comments

Hello Robins,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.

This week in English we looked at the book ‘How To Find Gold’. We all loved looking at the illustrations in the story and you all wrote some wonderful sentences. Then we thought about the characters Anna and Crocodile and just using a tiny bit of the story and an illustration we had a really interesting discussion about what we could tell about the characters. I was very impressed! Next week we will be continuing to look at the story and writing our own stories about finding gold!

In Maths this week we looked at money. We recognised, sorted and counted coins and even became shop keepers and paid for different items. I wonder if you can remember the different values of coins.

Which coin has a larger value?

5p and £1?

10p and 1p?

In Art we used fabric paint to create designs on our pirate flags. I was so impressed with the way you held the paintbrushes so carefully and created some lovely designs. In Jigsaw this week we discussed our feelings about moving to Year 2 and we shared our favourite memory from Year 1.

I really can’t believe that next week will be our last week in Year 1- its all gone so fast! We are going to have a lovely week and we have lots of exiting things to look forward to- especially Pirate Day on Thursday! Ahoy!

Love Miss Spencer x
