Ladybirds blog – Summer 2 Week 5

Hello Ladybirds

We have had an exciting week of ‘changes’… our Caterpillars finally emerged from their cocoons, throughout the weekend! The children got to meet them on Monday and were very excited to see them fluttering around. We then released them and said goodbye as they flew off. Can you remember what we called them?

Ladybirds finally met their class teacher for Year 1 on Wednesday and showed excitement and enthusiasm. This year certainly has flown by and can’t believe is nearly coming to an end, :-(.

Over the past 2 weeks we have been reading ‘What The Ladybird Heard’ by Julia Donaldson. The children have been role playing the story, drawing and painting and writing about their favourite part of the story. The have made models of minibeasts out of Lego and Sticklebricks.

In maths we have been subitising…estimating an irregular number of spots on a ladybird. The children were very good at making educated guesses – many recognised their bonds to 10, really good skills.

The week started with a blast of Sports Day pursuits – well done Ladybirds…I am so proud of you all for taking part and trying your best with all the events.

Hope you have had a great weekend. Love Mrs Reid xx
