Oak Learning Blog – Summer 2 Week 3

By Debbie Barlow on Sunday, June 24, 2018 in Year 2. No Comments

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another Oak learning blog! Read on to find out what we’ve been up to over the last 5 days.

In English, we have been looking at our new Power Of Reading book, ‘The Wild’. The children have been fully immersing themselves in the story, and can’t wait to find out what happens next! They have been trying to infer (work out from clues) what is happening from the pictures without hearing the text. Or listening to the text and having to visualise the picture. We had some  teachers from a local school watching us do this and they were really impressed with the children;s ideas and writing. Well done Oak. We have wrote some brilliant descriptions of the setting and used drama to help us write about what happened when some new animals came to visit.

In Maths, we have been revising fractions; I have set some Sumdog homework if you want to keep practicing your skills over the coming week.

In PE, Mr Coley hosted a Y2 mini-World Cup tournament, which everyone enjoyed taking part in! If anyone wants to do some research at home, we are finding out a bit about our World Cup country, Croatia. Bring your research in next week for a special sticker.

And lastly, but probably most excitingly, we have also begun to practice our summer show, The Jungle Book! Everyone now knows their role; the actors, narrators, singers and dancers all seem very keen to do their best. We have been practicing the songs in music with Mrs Vaughan; any further practice at home would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for reading the blog this week. The weather forecast is due to be very hot next week, so make sure to send in water bottles, sunhats and come wearing suncream if needed!

Have a lovely weekend, I’ll see you on Monday!

Love Mrs Barlow xxx
