The Very Hungry Caterpillar took over this week. We have been reading the story, creating our favourite paintings from the book, (we love Eric Carle), and have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly.
In maths we have been practising using the three functions of addition, subtraction and division. The children are increasingly more confident with their problem solving and choosing what and how they learn at the maths table.
Our caterpillars nicknamed The Crazy Crew, as they have always been very active and extra wriggly since arriving in class in Summer term 2, have surprised us over night on Thursday. They have wriggled their way to the top of their ‘nursery’ and 4 out of 5 of them have made a chrysalis. The last one will no doubt do the same over the weekend. Exciting.
We celebrated Eid today in school and reception got busy making Eid Mubarak cards, wrote about customs and traditions and coloured in beautiful pictures too. They tried their hand at writing Arabic numbers and decorated (and ate) biscuits to celebrate the day.
In our outdoor playground area some of the reception children were able to plant out our Re-purposed garden with Mrs Nguyen….they will need a good watering for next week, we are in for some very warm Summer weather I hear!
Thank you to Beau for returning Rory our Rights Respecting Rabbit, Sebby is this week’s recipient. Asha is the recipient of Work of The Week award for her fantastic writing about the Butterfly Life Cycle. Nadine was awarded our Value of the Half Term award, for always using good manners.
SUMDOG HOMEWORK goes live this evening and the assessment will be available for one week. Please encourage your children to visit the site.
Have a lovely weekend. Best Wishes, Mrs Merrifield.
