Robin class- Summer 2 Week 2

By Hannah Spencer on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Year 1. No Comments

Hello there Robins,

I hope you have all had a lovely, relaxing weekend!

This week in English we learnt all about the famous pirate Blackbeard! You worked in pairs to go on a fact treasure hunt and then used your new facts to write a fact file all about him. I wonder if you can remember anything about Blackbeard? Maybe what his real name was or maybe where he was born?

In Maths this week we have continued looking at place value. We used our special symbols to show greater than and less than. Can you think of a number greater than 24 but less then 36? Can you think of a number less than 80 but greater than 72?

In our Science lesson this week we carried out our experiment where we tested which material would best absorb the water from the pirate deck. We had some interesting results! The cotton wool absorbed the most water but we agreed it would not last very long as a mop so the sponge would be a better option. You all showed great investigating skills-well done Robins! In PE this week we continued learning all about athletics. We practised jumping, throwing and running- you all wowed me with your  super skills.

Next week we have some exciting things to look forward to; a story to write in English, looking one more and one less in Maths and we are having an Eid day on Friday where we will be doing lots of lovely activities!

I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow,

Love Miss Spencer x
