Despite working exceptionally hard rehearsing their Not So Creepy Crawlies Production, Bumblebees have had a good week consolidating their addition skills at the maths table and investigating ways of making 6,7,8,9, and 10. They have revisited time, by making their own clock, ensuring all numbers were ordered correctly at were able to tell me their o’clock times.
We have been practising handwriting, using phonics in our reading and writing sentences containing describing words this week on the writing table and in art we have been representing mini beasts with different media, such as potato printing, free drawing, craft paper, and painting.
Our home corner has been transformed by Mrs Gohill and Bumblebees into a Bug Laboratory, with children exploring books and fake bugs…but watch this space we may have some real bugs entering the lab very soon…
Our second phase of Polli:nation Project has commenced this week with field surveys throughout our school grounds and funding coming through for assistance with some of the projects. The project relies on volunteers and one of our regulars Mr Merrifield popped in today to work with the children and Mrs Nguyen to re-align the bug hotel and damp area log pile, both had been disrupted after the recent downpours. Some of our Bumblebees were involved in this ongoing project and even before end of school today, bugs were spotted entering the new habitats and visiting our makeshift shallow ‘pond’, (this is a builders tray with fircones, leaf mulch and sticks filled with water), so many more insects are now present because of its existence and are helping to pollinate our vegetable garden. Well done Bumblebees for helping this happen.
Well done to Rebecca, who was awarded in our Values Assembly this week for being someone I can always TRUST. Also thanks to Charlotte for returning Rory our Rights Respecting Rabbit and showing us her adventures focusing on the right to Play and Be Safe. Rebecca is the recipient of Rory this week.
Next week we are learning a new maths concept…I wonder children, can you tell me what sharing may mean to you in maths? Where have you shared something by counting? Let me know in this blog or when I see you at school.
SUMDOG HOMEWORK>>>>>>>>>>>>Mrs M’s Number Bonds Challenge is uploaded now and will be live until next Friday, please encourage your child to take part.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Reception’s Not So Creepy Crawlies Production, our class kick starts the 3 day performances, starting at 9 a.m.
See you next week and have a lovely weekend.
Love Mrs Merrifield
