Robins class- Summer 1 Week 1

By Hannah Spencer on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Year 1. No Comments

Hello Robins,

I hope you all enjoyed your first week back at school, it was lovely to see you all again! We started our week by looking at our new topic which is all about ‘Animals’. We discussed the things we already knew about animals and you wrote down some things you would like to find out about them during our topic. We have so many exciting things to do in this topic, including designing and making our own boats, a visit from the Animal man and reading some animal stories.

In Maths this week we looked at making equal groups, for example, 4 groups of 2 and 3 groups of 5. You were all very good at this and realised that each group needed to be equal. Then on Friday we began looking at arrays and you did lots of activities linked to making equal groups.

We also had our first swimming lesson this week. I am so proud of the way you behaved, you walked to the swimming pool so sensibly and listened very well to the instructor. Well done Robins! We are off swimming again tomorrow so don’t forget your swimming kits!

In the afternoon we had a Jigsaw lesson where we looked at road safety, we discussed how important it is to look and listen when we cross the road. Then in Art we explored lots of different animal prints and I was so impressed with the way you carefully and accurately sketched the prints using colour.

Our author of the half term is Jill Murphy, if you have any books at home by this author then you are more than welcome to bring them in and share them with the class. You have all gone home this weekend with new reading books and a new homework sheet, so if you get chance try to fit some reading in next week 🙂

I hope you have all enjoyed your weekends and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Love Miss Spencer
