Welcome to this week’s Oak learning blog. We’ve had another busy week in school, with Sport Relief as well as our usual learning. So read on to find out more …
In Maths we have begun our work on fractions. This week we have begun to recognise and find a half and a quarter of shapes, objects and numbers. We learnt to draw fraction blocks to help us calculate these. Can you show someone how to find a quarter (1/4) of 16?
In English we have been learning the history of the Great Fire of London and Samuel Pepys, an important eye witness to the event. The children wrote some excellent narratives to show what they had learnt. Can you tell your family how the fire begun?
In art we have finished painting and creating our own ‘Scream’ backgrounds, in RE we learnt and acted out the story of the Unforgiving Servant and in Jigsaw we designed our own healthy meals using our science knowledge from last half term.
I can’t quite believe we are round to the last week already! We will be issuing new spellings, holiday reading books and updating targets for writing and maths before the holidays, so please remember to send in reading diaries and homework books next week.
Thursday is Easter Hat parade so get looking out or making those Easter Bonnets. See you tomorrow.
