Robins class- Spring 1 Week 5

Good Afternoon Robins,

I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend so far.

On Friday we all had a wonderful day celebrating Chinese New Year! In the morning we followed some instructions to make some lanterns. You then decorated these and they look beautiful! They will look brilliant in our pop up restaurant which is Thursday 15th February 9am-10am for Robins class. We also practised counting in 2s which you were brilliant at. I wonder if you can show someone at home how to count in 2s? Or maybe count in steps of 5 or 10! In the afternoon you all enjoyed a dance workshop and I heard you were all wonderful and showed off with all the facts you knew about China.

In English this week we have been doing some non-fiction writing and we created a fact file all about China. We focused on four areas, key facts, food, wildlife and school. I wonder if you can remember any facts about those things? You all did really well with your writing and I spotted lots of you using sound mats to help you spell words.

In Maths this week we focused on subtraction. We used tens frames, counters, number lines and drawings to help us calculate some tricky problems. I wonder if you can remember any words that mean the same as subtraction? Next week in Maths we will be revisiting some learning about greater than, less than and equal to.

In Art this week you all produced your very own willow pattern plate. You all worked so carefully to first mark out your design on the plate using pencil and then we used thin paint brushes and a variety of blue paint to paint on your design. They all look so beautiful and you should be very proud.

I can’t believe next week will be our last week before half term, I don’t know where the time has gone! Please could you all bring your homework books in on Monday so I can stick in your new targets for next term- thank you.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love Miss Spencer x
