Bumblebees Class Blog Autumn Term 1, Week 3

By Alyson Merrifield on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in News, Reception. 4 Comments

Dear Bumblebees, I do hope you are having a fabulous weekend? I loved having some late Saturday sunshine in Bournville today…the trees are starting to change colour, have you noticed?

This week Bumblebees embarked upon a class project – to produce their own Percy the Park Keeper Storybook. Each child made a collage background for their illustration, then on Friday cut out characters from the Percy Park Keeper stories. Finally they told me a story of their page – I will be compiling them over the next week or so and will put the storybook on the website and in our class reading area. I am super proud of you Bumblebees – your story telling is FANTASTIC!!

Here is a sneak preview of some of your work:

The class had fun with Mr Coley on Tuesday, in their first PE session. They were tasked with following instructions, running, jumping and hopping and showed they could balance well too. Well done Bumblebees.

Mrs Vaughan, our talented Music Teacher, spent time with all 3 reception classes on Wednesday practising Harvest Songs for our forthcoming Harvest Festival Celebration at St Francis Church on Tuesday 26th September. Mrs Merrifield and Bumblebees class have been practising at every opportunity, (we have discovered that Bumblebees have lovely voices) and even played percussion instruments to beat in time with the music.

Finally – our reflections this week have been about rules and feelings. We have been learning about why we have rules and why we express feelings, as well as how to notice and respect others feelings, through class assemblies and carpet sessions, giving time for children to listen and share their ideas with each other.

A really popular clip that the class enjoyed can be found here:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbYY5QT8XWs

I am sure they would love to share it with their grown ups over the weekend or the week ahead. Our weekly reflection next week will be about belonging…perhaps Bumblebees can tell the class more about a club they may belong to, like a football or gym or dancing club?

More photo’s have been added to our Bumblebees class gallery..take a peek at your busy bees!   http://bournvilleinfantschool.org.uk/bumblebees-gallery

I look forward to seeing you at our PICNIC IN THE PARK on Sunday 12-2.30pm and again on Monday.

Best wishes, Mrs Merrifield xxx
