Hello everyone and welcome to Sycamore! This is the first Learning Blog post of the new year. It may have only been a short week, but it has certainly been an exciting one! It has been lovely getting to know the children over the last couple of days, and I am really looking forward to the year ahead. If I haven’t had the chance to meet you yet, please feel free to come and say hello when I am on the door in a morning or after school; if you want a longer talk about your child, we can arrange a meeting at a convenient time.
We have already hit the ground running now the children are in Year 2! This week we have been having a look at their super reading, writing and maths skills. On Thursday, a mysterious parcel arrived at school. Children, have you told your parents what was inside? This also linked to a very special book we read in class today. All in all, a very exciting start to our Castle topic!
Just a few notes for parents. Reading books and diaries have been sent home this week to help with reading at home. Please can you make sure to send them into school every day, as they may be needed for extra reading or target work. Our PE days are a Monday and a Thursday, so please make sure an appropriate PE kit is in school for your child. There will also be a more detailed information sheet sent home to parents and carers in the next week.
What a busy first week it’s been! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I would love to hear some replies from you on the blog post – why don’t you write me a comment to tell me about your favourite thing from this week? See you on Monday!
Mr Hall 🙂
