Oak learning Blog – Summer 2 week 6

By Debbie Barlow on Friday, July 14, 2017 in Year 2. 1 Comment

Hi everyone,

Welcome to another Oak learning Blog and what another super busy week we have had. Come and read what we have been learning about this  week..

In English we have been writing for a real purpose and making our own programs for the show Mary Poppins. We wrote all about the story, the cast, the songs and a biography all about one of the most important cast members – themselves! The children will be bringing it home to you so you can use it for the performances. They worked really hard on them and will be a really beautiful keepsake.

In maths we have carried on with investigating and carried out a 3D shape investigation with the help of our maths consultant Liz Hopkins. She was really impressed with the children’s confident and correct mathematical language and super reasoning skills. We also revised money too.

In the afternoon we have practised our play, watched a concert by some of the Junior school brass players, and continued to saw wood for our wheeled vehicles. We also made some amazing 3D sculptures inspired by the work of the environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy.

Next week children it is show week so get practising those words for the play especially those last verses.

Just a few reminders we will be collecting in reading books and sharing books, and steps for success folders next week so please make sure they are in your child’s book bags. Also we sent home scrapbooks from the Junior school and the Year 3 team with some summer holiday homework.

Have a good weekend and hope to see you for the Leavers assembly on Monday morning – bring your tissues!

Love Mrs Barlow xxx
